Information for podcasts guests
Hi, and thanks for being a guest on the Animal Training Academy podcast show …
This page contains some important information regarding how the podcast recording works, what you will need to do before hand to prepare and some of the technical information you will need to know…
We will be using Google hangouts on air to record the podcast. In order to use hangouts you need either the hangouts App if you are using a mobile device [Tablet or smart phone] which you can download from the app store …
Or … the browser extension if you are using a computer … it is recommended to use google chrome and you can download the extension here.
CLICK HERE to get the google hangouts extension for google chrome
On the day what happens is I will set the call-up and send an invite to your email… you will have to then click on the invite link from the device where you either installed the app or the extension and this will allow you to join…
Google hangouts on air is a live video streaming software … although we won’t be needing to use the video function so a Camera is not a necessity. A microphone however is … most people don’t have a professional microphone and so if we can’t get a hold of one what can work well is a set of earphones with the mic in the cord [see picture].
We have used people’s computer Microphones before and this has worked although the sound quality doesn’t tend to be good, but we will work with whatever technology you have available …
To record we need a nice quiet place where you are comfortable and can minimize any movement … Mics can be very sensitive and pick up scratching of clothes etc …Other background noises to be conscious of are … people moving around, animals in the background, dogs barking, birds chirping etc traffic sounds from nearby roads and weather … all things to take into consideration on the day.
Let me know if you have any questions about any of that … otherwise I’ll do my Buddhist chants in the morning to rid ourselves of technical gremlins and we will be full steam ahead … 🙂
Best Regards and talk soon
